"What is that?" Craig asked. He had brought is voice low to just a little above a whisper.
"I don't know C, it sounded like a train puffing out smoke" Miin replied."
"I knew it was a bad idea coming out here in the first place. We are archaeologists, not wildlifers" Kam muttered.
"Will you just shut up let's know what we are up against?" Craig fired at him.
Kam was about to say something when a whoosing sound was heard as if a bullet train just rode past clump of leaves. From the sound they were hearing, the unknown entity was pretty quite big.
"Maybe it's a rhino, I heard they don't welcome fire in the forest and our campfire is not an exception" Kam said. His voice was filled with fear.
"Rhinos are not found in this part of the world buddy, so don't even think of it" Craig replied him.
Few moments later, they heard a grunting sound up ahead and there in front, was a pair of fiery eyes. They seem like life coals hanging in mid air except for the fact that this two fireballs blink often and had dark spots in the middle. Clouds of mist where going off in front of the eyes like steam escaping the mouth of a boiling kettle but this one in front breaks off every 2 seconds.
"Goodness gracious!. Seems the devil himself is out strolling today" Miin muttered.
The form in front grunted some more then wheel round and within 5 seconds, all was quiet except for the sound of the trio breathing heavily.
"I think we are in for a treat guys?" Craig said.
They could not bring themselves to sleep that night. The vision of the form they had beheld was too heavy upon them and every moment, they expected it to return.
They were still struggling to hold their consciousness when daylight came. They gathered up their things and were ready to leave.
"Oh no!" Miin exclaimed.
"What is it Miin?" Craig asked.
"The GPS is dead C, it's not working.
" What? How are we getting out of here then?" Kam asked with eyes wide opened.
"Let us just try going back the way we came, luckily, we may pick up our track" Craig advised.
"Our track? Did I hear you say our track" Kam asked.
"You heard me right buddy!" Criag answered.
Hours of wondering and the trio knew they were lost. Nothing around looks familiar to them and the forest was totally trackless. They could hear animals scuttling nearby but could not see any and birds were calling from high above the trees. For miles on end, no light penetrated through the thick over hanging canopy of the forest and they had to rely on their weak flashlights for sight. Some of the trees were huge and their lowest branch hang about 50 metres from the ground and spread to make a cover over head. The floor was matted with dried, decaying leaves and branches and thousands of insects flew around within the spaces. The air barely push through but when it did, the sound made by the trees was like a multitude of people howling and this, coupled with the darkness, this sound chills one down to the bones!
2 days later, they burst upon a valley far below. It was edged with mountains running down far beyond where the eyes can see. They were so high up that their tip seems to touch the sky and vanish in it. Halfway down this mountains where coats of pure white snow that covered it down to the middle. From each of these mountains as far as they could see flowed silvery rivers running down their edges and meeting up a larger one that flows, wounding it way like a giant crystal snake through the valley.
On both side of the river like pieces of white marbles and glittering in the morning sun were thousands of rooftops stretching for miles and arranged in an orderly fashion as if they were drawn on an architect's paper. In the middle of this houses that edged the river on the right bank was one large magnificent building that rose hundreds of feet above every other structure around and it roof was glittering in the sunlight and seems to be made of gold. It rimes were shining brightly and looked as if they were tipped with diamond or some other precious stone.
"Can anyone tell me what this is or are we dead and this is heaven?" Miin asked with his eyes shining almost as bright as the precious stones on the roof.
"I don't think we are dead because I can still feel my heart beating, and am not sure ghosts have hearts" Craig replied.
Kam was too dumbfounded for words, he just kept on staring as if hypnotized.
"We better get going and see what lies within this wonder before it get's dark, it will be a shame if we become sandwiches to some ugly creature before we have checked this beauty out" Craig offered.
"You are right C, let's get going' Kam said.
" Wake up sleepy head! Where are you going to?"
Kam woke up to find his mother standing over him, frowning.
"It's Monday boy! Get out of bed and get ready for school already" his mother said and went out of the room.
"Oh! So it was all a dream! Mum should have let me see this valley of wonder" He thought.
He stood up and sat on the bed.
"What a dream!" He thought.
