I am Patrick from Cyprus!
So I am involved in many many things here in Cyprus. My main focuses are activism, crypto, permaculture, music and my family!
With this post however I will not be getting into allot of details at the moment, perhaps in the next post. For now I would like to share a couple of new mixes I made, Steem actually inspired me to begin again due to it's incentivized status!
How I got into mixing: It all happened in university. We were lucky enough in uni to have our own house. As such, house parties were a must, every week. Since we had some nice lighting and the harman/kardon soundsticks we were way more advanced than any of our neighbors. Soon enough our house parties could not fit anymore people inside! As such my friends notified me that it was time to take this to the next level, a club. Now note, me and my housemates were mixing in Youtube! So basically nobody knew how to DJ. As such, I asked a friend of mine if he could mix a set play list that I would give him. His answer was yes, but 2 days before the party he notified me that he would not be able to make it. Can you guys guess what I did next?
I opened my webrowser and typed in on youtube: how to DJ. I went to the club way earlier than necessary and asked the manager there to show me how the decks work. He was shocked to see that I had no idea how to use them (or very little) and he was pretty sure that the deposit we payed for the night would be staying with him (they would keep the deposit if the turnout was too small). What ended happening though was that with simple song changing techniques (just moving the slider really), the crowd of over 120 people was loving it and going crazy. It was a fantastic party and I will never forget how happy and excited i was. In a blink of an eye, I had become what I had been dreaming of!
For me, a new, big and once a upon a time dreamlike journey had begun. 2 days prior to the event, it was not even a possibility for me to be a DJ in the near future. Sometimes things change really fast in life, and I had found myself completely addicted to this new way of life. I loved it and still love it.
I did not continue my career in this field as I would have loved to, because I was blessed to have children earlier than i had expected and my priorities changed. In the future i would love to get back into sound production, and maybe steem will be there to power me! I hope you like my story and I hope life brings to you these amazing experience out of nowhere as it has with me!
