Right in the middle of my small village once grew an apple tree. It was uncommon for apples to grow in this region of the world, but for reasons unknown this particular tree did flourish. We were told that this was a sign that the village was blessed. This village flourished in every aspect until one day this apple tree began to wither. Initially, we didn't seem to take notice of this till all leaves began to fall off this tree. And with this, bad omen befell the village. This was rather disturbing, so the elders consulted a diviner.
This diviner told them that their village has been cursed by a witch. This was a problem, why would a witch curse this village? Most of them asked. The diviner told them that She was once a maiden of this village that was cast away for not being chaste, and this was her way of taking revenge on the village. The only way to break this curse was to burn the witch. This was most unfortunate as the with was nowhere to be found. And as we know, you can't burn what you can't see. This curse brought about the degredation of my village, never did that Apple tree grow again nor our crops flourish.
