The glass tree
This tree with this strange name is found in the Pereyra Iraola Park, Province of Buenos Aires.
The tree called crystal is native to Malaysia and was brought to Argentina by the Pereyra Iraola family in the 19th century.
They say it is the only one in South America, since it was the only one that survived.
During the night it exudes a resin, which on full moon nights reflects the moonlight. This gives the feeling of being made of glass.

Este árbol con este extraño nombre se encuentra en el Parque Pereyra Iraola, Provincia de Buenos Aires.
El árbol llamado de cristal es originario de Malasia y lo trajo a Argentina la familia Pereyra Iraola en el siglo XIX.
Dicen que es el único en sudamérica, ya que fue el único que sobrevivió.
Durante la noche exhuda una resina, que en las noches de luna llena refleja la luz de la luna. Esto da la sensación de ser de cristal.
Its beauty arouses interest in people and walks and bicycle rides are organized to see it, because it is located on a road inaccessible to cars.
The problem is the lack of signposts to get there. But it is worth the walk to get there. It was approximately a 50 minute walk through the forest until we reached the tree. But it is worth it to reach it and admire it.
The good thing is that the trail layout that the Pereyra family used on their periodic walks is still maintained.
Su belleza despierta interés en las personas y se organizan caminatas y paseos en bicicletas para verlo, debido a que se encuentra en un camino inaccesible para automóviles.
El problema es la falta de carteles indicadores para llegar. Pero vale la pena la caminata para llegar hasta él. Fueron aproximadamente unos 50 minutos de caminata atravesando el bosque hasta llegar al árbol. Pero vale la pena para llegar hasta él y admirarlo.
Lo bueno es que aún se mantiene la traza de senderos que utilizaba la familia Pereyra en sus paseos periódicos.

And after 50 minutes of walking the first sign appears. There he is. Unique in South America, alone among so many trees.
Y después de los 50 minutos de caminata aparece el primer cartel. Allí se encuentra él. Único en sudamérica, solo entre tantos árboles.

They say that he is condemned to die alone, because to reproduce he needs another of his same species. Very sad.
Dicen que está condenado a morir solo, porque para reproducirse necesita otro de su misma especie. Muy triste.

You may wonder what he is doing here so far from his homeland. Why Mr. Pereyra Iraola brought it to beautify his stay, why it was the only offspring that survived the trip...
The Iraola family ranch no longer exists, the family does not exist either. Today it is the so-called Pereyra Park, a walking place for locals, who do not know of the existence of the glass tree.

La estancia de la familia Iraola ya no existe, la familia tampoco existe. Hoy es el llamado Parque Pereyra, un lugar de paseo para los lugareños, que no saben de la existencia del árbol de cristal.
