I use a Garmin for sport and fitness metrics and love it, but pay almost zero attention to calories or steps. Just as long as I can train consistently, and can keep track on the average hearth rate and HRV, and VO2 max, it's good enough for me. Those are good indicators on how I'm doing health wise.
And yes, I'm one of those that can sleep anywhere (and anytime). I usually can go home for lunch and 15-20 min naps are taken on a near daily basis! ;)
