The end of another vacations, and me already longing for the next ones. So yes, these ones are still very fresh in my memory, yet still a perfect fit for a #monomad challenge.
This time, it will be a 100% portuguese summer vibes edition. With colourless sunsets included, of course, because few things top watching a sunset at the end of a lazy beach day.
I was very lucky, since the week I had of vacations coincided with likely the hottest week in this year until now, and the weather was fabulous. Maybe a bit too much heat for some people, but I don't mind heat at all; especially if I can wear flip flops and shorts and I'm near a beach. Even if you have to cross holes on the wall to reach them.
Summer in Algarve also means delicious food, and fresh fish; and these ones are a must: not the overpriced canned stuff to sell to tourist, but the grilled ones, preferably with veggies and a glass of wine to go with them.
Trust me, these ones were as good as they look. And one the way to this little restaurant, I also had the oppportunity to find typical handicrafts from this region, such as this lamp. They are made to resemble the chimneys you normally find on a typical house in this part of the country.
Even better than finding typical craftsmanship, was finding wildlife in a way I wasn't expecting. It seems humans aren't the only ones enjoying Algarve beaches: the rocky cliffs surrounding most of the beaches were filled with kestrel nests, and there were countless of them, and so easy to spot. I've lost count of how many I saw.
I love travelling abroad, but I think I can consider myself blessed for living in a country with such a beautiful coastline. Well, Portugal does have a lot of other things in its favour, but for this week specifically, beach time was my goal. Not even the damn algae infestation ruined it; in fact, they even came in handy in some cases!
Not my work... but fully agreed. :)
