Took time out to watch Queen Of Katwe today cos my friends were hyping it so much and it proved to be all and more than what I was told.

Based on a true life story, it chronicles the rise of a girl from the slums to fame. It tells how with determination a young girl from the ghettos of Uganda went on to become its chess champion.

And despite the setbacks she encountered on the way, she kept pushing for more, aiming for the top.

How with encouragement, we could grow beyond the limits set for us.

I wish my life story could mirror this.That I could look back one day and be like "wow! Was that me? "
That I put so big a smile on my mother's face it remains permanent.
Mixed in here and there were humorous scenes,most of all at the dinner when Phiona's brother Mugabi was so eager to start eating he almost tore the plate out of the waiter's hand.
This should serve as a beacon to encourage our girls, our women, that they can be more than who society say they are, more than who family say they are,more than who they think they are.
