I know I have not been on steemit for so long, but I feel it is long enough for me to have an idea or two about how things go down on the blockchain.
I vividly remember when I newly joined and was finding it difficult to get curators to upvote my posts. I got disheartened, wondered how long it would take before my account became mor than just a thing of passion for me.
Till today I still get those moments when I feel like giving up. But I have learnt a thing or two during my sojourn here, and have a few tricks up my sleeve, so those moments are growing rarer and far between.
But that’s not why I am writing this post, just wanted to lay a background. You see, back then the rewards were trickling in so slowly that I started looking for other ways apart from writing up a post by which I could make some money on steemit. Thanks be to God, that search was short as I found lots of contests organized by members of the community. I entered in for as any as I could, and my earnings increased appreciably. So this post is a compilation of a couple contests and competitions I have come across on steemit. It is my hope that new users as well as stalites like me who are finding the blockchain difficult could find a contest that suits them. Who knows, you might be a winner.
- The Stach Short Story Contest: This is a contest that I personally have benefited a lot from. Held weekly,it is a call for submissions by any steemian interested of a short story not more than 199 words long on a topic which is provided by
@stach in the contest post.

- The OriginalWorks Weekly Writing Contests: Now this, this is a big league contest. With the prize pool normally above 100SBD, and the first prize normally above 30SBD, this contest could be a game changer for you. To be honest I have not won one of the main prizes till date, but I have gotten consolation prizes of 1SBD a couple of times. You get to submit a write-up which is always crypto-related, so if you have a good understanding of how cryptos work, or you have good research skills, then this contest could be heaven sent to you.
