At our home we have an in-ground irrigation system to keep the lawn green. However one of the old style rain-bird sprinklers finally quit working, and I needed to replace it. The new ones are much smaller and easier. But you still need to dig and cut away the tree roots to gain access to replace it.
Hole, sprinkler heads, and tools of the job
In the above photo you can see both sprinkler heads, the new head is in place and ready to irrigate, the old green one is laying on the ground next to the hole. I just need to fill the hole and replace the sod and I will give it a try. In the next photo you can see the new rain-bird sprinkler working nicely. The new sprinkler head and other needed supplies for the job cost under $20.
