While out golfing yesterday I had the opportunity to identify some wild berries growing on the golf course. They are currant berries and I snapped several photo's for my wonderful Steemian friends. I just love researching these things and learned that these currant berries are edible.

Currant Bush
Wild currants are closely related to gooseberries. Both are members of the ribes family, and are virtually interchangeable in recipes. Currants come in red, black, and gold colors when ripe. North America is host to more than 80 varieties.
Ornamental as well as practical, currants are an excellent choice for home gardens in the northern US. High in nutrition and low in fat, currants are more popular than ever. Although they are usually used in baking, jams and jellies because of their tart flavor, some types are sweet enough to eat right off the bush.
Currant bushes live 12 to 15 years, growing especially well in sun or partial shade. Pruning currant shrubs annually is helpful for the plant as well in both maintaining its form and inducing a larger, healthier harvest each year.
