So the Saturday has started dark, but the clouds were steadily clearing and we took a short trip to a wine farm.

First up is the famed Malachite sunbird on a red Protea Pin-cushion flower.

The light was very tricky as the wind blew the clouds over the sun at speed and we had quick changes between light and dark. This is the first day that we had no rain and the clouds were racing to be reloaded with water, as they reckon that Tuesday and Wednesday we will be wet again.
Not that we mind, as we need the water and our spring season is due to start on the 1st of September.
Come and walk with me.

I wanted to show you how the dark clouds were crossing the mountains at speed.

And here you can see the changes in the light with the cloud at the top blocking the sun.

A little Southern Double-collared sunbird was waiting to greet me.

Looked like a yellow billed Kite, but I can't tell in this light.

Two shots to show you how the bees like the abundant nectar of the Paradise flowers. (Strelitzia)

A crazy goose turn here by the Egyptian goose.

And then the goose headed back towards the mountains.

Finally, the taking off of a Malachite female. I think that it was the female as I don't see the male's long tail.

And there you have it as it was an eventful walk this morning. Obviously the birds are all out to feed as they must be hungry after the many days of rain that we had. I expect to get many more birds over the next two days before the rain arrives again, so I will be sure to show you some more.
Our temp is supposed to be 15C today, but it feels much lower and although it is a bit cold, it is always an adventure to get out there with my camera. Eyes on the sky as usual, but there was just as much going on at ground level.
I hope that you have enjoyed the walk.

And That's All Friend's.
