Hey, hey, hey, that's the bird bath for small birds, not a big fat goose!
At last, I found the culprit and let me explain.
Every late afternoon we fill the bird bath with fresh clean water for the early birds the next morning. But when I go out in the mornings, the bath is only half full and the water is dirty???
Now I know why.
You never argue with a female Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiaca) when she chases you out of the garden.
Instead I walked around the back of our house and peeped at her around the corner with my camera.
So surprised to see her on the birdbath, as they have their own big blue bath bucket in the garden.
Here she first tested the water.
And instead of just taking a drink, like any other decent bird, this lady decided to take a bird bath.
Going at it with gusto with water splashing everywhere.
Oh yes, now I saw with my own eyes what happens with the water disappearing every night, as Sally took an earlier bath today.
Bang, she was done and there she went on her way.
Amazing, as they have their own bath in the garden and I cannot fathom why she baths in the birdbath.
But then it dawned on me that their bath is on the floor and they might be worried about roving cats.
A flying Egyptian goose can be lethal when they attack a cat, but on the floor they are vulnerable.
So we will just continue to fill the birdbath with fresh water everyday hahahah.
And That's All friends!
