Sad indeed my friend. Especially if I hear how the young "know all's" treat us as elderly persons today. I wonder if they treat their own parents and in my case, grandparents the same way.
The only thing that brings a bit of relief is when we find decent (very few) young guys that had a decent upbringing.
Respect for the self should be paramount, as only then can one respect others.
But it seems that the world is becoming more and more emotionally bankrupt.
A young doctor in my congregation came up to me after my service and he said that he just wanted to thank me again for the great service that I delivered at the funeral of his father a few months ago.
Then he said that he so wished that he did more for his dad.
I sat him down and explained to him that his dad is proud of what his son had become and he now had every opportunity to be kind to all others that he encounters.
People don't think about their tomorrows as most of them live from day to day bedazzled by their problems. They struggle to keep their "power" positions and they "bite" everyone that seems to be not as smart and clever as what they are.
Then, as I have said before, unexpectedly their tomorrows creep up on them and they find themselves in a boat without a paddle!
We were also young once you and I, but at least we had respect and manners.
Things that money cannot buy, but it makes life so much easier.
Sorry for the long reply my friend.
Take care!
