Very good point @papilloncharity. How sad, though, that it has gotten to be a fashion statement, at all!

True enough, the wheels are likely to eventually come off that wagon. I remember many moons ago, sitting with my ex (there's a good reason she's my EX!) in the living room as she was transcribing her old address book into a new book... and she looked at me with a sad face and announced that it "seemed silly" to even do what she was doing, because she felt pretty sure not a single person on those pages would actually return her call if she called them and needed some kind of help...

An ouch moment, for sure.

I guess all we can do is stand true to our own values and plod forward.
