We have 164 species of dragonflies and damselflies in South Africa.
So today I will show you the Cape Skimmer dragonfly (Orthetrum julia capicola) in action.
I love the ponds, dams and lakes over here, as they always offer me some action shots. Be it animals, birds, or insects, something is always going on. The more secluded that the water body is, the better.
All that it takes is a bit of patience and a keen eye and you will see the results below.
Look at the beauty of the male here.
Below, the male Skimmer was leading the female to take up some water.
She dipped her tail into the water while in flight.
The two white lines on the torso means that it is a skimmer specie.
He said; Hey Zac, why are you taking shots of the water? Don't you know that you are supposed to drink the water? :)
Fun in Mother nature's garden today and it is always a pleasant experience to be out in the countryside. So many photographic opportunities and it takes one's mind totally off the worries and the struggles of life in this world. Nature offers a different side of life that is anchored in the stark and naked truth. Silence is her music and beauty is her marker.
Every time that I step out to meet with her, she embraces me and I always come away with some treasures to show you.
