We were high up and close to the mountain peaks when we spotted this guy.
In fact Marian saw him as he flew by, as I was hunting a Malachite Sunbird in the Red Rocket flowers. She called me and here in this post you will see a Jackal Buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus) that came down from the mountain peaks.
I think that he saw something to eat, as normally they circle high up on the thermals.
Come and look.
Like I said, he was far away in some high trees near the mountains.
But the super zoom got him clearer and I was waiting for him to show his face.
I got his face in the first photo and here he sat on a different dead tree stump.
Must have been closer to the prey as as he took off behind the trees and we didn't see him again.
There is much food here for the raptors, like hares, rabbits, rodents and even snakes.
This was during our outing this morning, as we landed a free ride to a clay pigeon shooting event high up near the mountains on a very large farm.
I went shooting with my camera instead as we have never been this high up and it was indeed an adventure.
So, I will post about this outing tomorrow and hope that all of you will also be amazed at the beauty of nature.
