What were you thinking when you first saw or heard Steemit? What do you think of Steemit now?

I actually heard of steemit in January 2018 from my friend @Lordjames who told me about a site I can make money from posting quality contents about anything he even told me the amount a friend who introduced him to steemit made a week before that day, I was so excited because we were unemployed that time and so happy that finally I have somewhere to make money to makeup for my unemployment. I came to steemit with a lot of expectations that I am coming to reap money even though I later discovered that its not like that( a lesson I learnt the hard way), I registered on steemit and my account was approved the following week.

I made an introductory post which I spend time and energy to make a good post but I got a very an upvote which was very low and I made nothing out of it, this really discouraged me because I saw other people's introduction and I saw the number of upvote and the amount they made from the post. I decided to continue but my mind was no longer fully there the way it was the first time, I made another post about food and I got no money and again, same thing repeated itself for like my first 4-5 posts. Now instead of me to check what went wrong I gave up on steemit that its not meant for me.

Over the months I saw and heard of how my friend have grown bigger in terms of finance and body, the way he travels because of steemit issues and the way he makes money then I knew its high time for me to go and see him again so that he can explain how he does it. I embarked on a 12 hour journey to my friend's place to learn how it is done, I thank God I did and @Lordjames was so helpful in me finding my way on steemit, my account reputation growed from 25 to 50 with the little weeks I spent with him (even though he told me I could have done better).

Now going to meet my friend made me understand steemit is not a site that you come and reap money but it's a place where you are rewarded for your posts, a social media where you meet friends with like minds, a place to improve your knowledge. He made me realize what I did wrong the first time I registered on steemit and how to avoid such errors, he thought me how to covert the steem coin to my local currency and other stuffs to improve me on steemit.

Well what I think about steemit now is what my friend @Lordjames actually told me even have not explore up to what he told me but I hope to do so with time and I can say steemit is a life change for the better. And any time I always have the opportunity to talk about how I got to steemit, I always say thank you @Lordjames.
