Kopelma Darussalam is one of the monuments that has an important history for aceh society. In addition to being a symbol of "kopelma (Kota Pelajar Mahasiswa)", the monument also becomes a witness of the agreement between the first president of Indonesia and the hero of Aceh (soekarno & Daud beureueh).
In 1948, President Soekarno visited Aceh to seek help from the Aceh people against the invaders. With the intention of the fi-sabilillah war, the people of Aceh are willing to help him. As ace of aceh, Daud beureueh appealed to the soekarno president to give freedom to run the Shari'a of Islam in aceh when the war is over. President Soekarno also promised it. A year later, Aceh was made as a province part of NKRI. But it was a mere promise, In 1951, the province of Aceh was dissolved and united in northern sumatra province. Even the privileges of living the Shari'a of Islam in Aceh is in the pull.
