Hey community, I'm an art novice who really likes to try different techniques and styles in order to one day find mine, and I was looking for inspiration on Instagram when I discovered this guy, who has a great style in which He uses red pencils for his portraits and manages to give it a really good depth and resemblance, that is why as soon as I saw him I knew that I had to try and for that I was looking for red characters and what better than Hellboy, so that is why I want to show you how was this portrait with only red color.

I decided to follow the technique from scratch, so I also made the structure with red color and if I was wrong I would correct it with the shading.

After being relatively happy with the structure, I proceeded to shade with the red color and what I did was to give it a general layer, leaving blank spaces for the highlights.

In this phase I begin to delve into the dark areas of the portrait, which makes the highlights also stand out and the portrait gain in realism, I also highlight some expression lines and scars.

In the end I stayed true to the technique and did not want to use a black pencil for the beard, so I did it with the red pencil, then I edited the drawing a bit to highlight the tones and that was it.
