The human race as we know it is quite complex, despite being human, there are features that makes us different and we grouped into populations, groups or ethnic groups. There are mutations that have some people and that makes them to be a little different from others, I would rather say special people. Albinism is one of these mutations that make people a little different.
I remember that girl, my mother I rebuked for indiscreetly ask a young woman that she was so pale. Albinism is a recessive mutation, which is characterized by poor or lack of melanin in the eyes, skin and hair. What is different or strange always draws attention.
And am commenting on albinism because recently while waiting for my appointment with the dentist, take a magazine I read an article about the tragedy of being albino in Africa with horror, and I couldn't believe everything that's happening in countries like Tanzania , Zimbague, Mozambique, Congo among others.
Unfortunately, in some areas of Africa, being albino is a sentence to suffering, as it is considered to be demonic, magical or ghostly. In Africa many people with albinism have been killed, maimed or sold since they consider them with curative or magical, properties based on ignorance and superstitions of some people. The most vulnerable suffer discrimination, mutilation and abduction attacks are children, since they are the most defenseless.
There is so much ignorance that many parents reject their albino children to believe that they are children of the devil, because it will give you bad luck. However, other parents with children with albinism flee with them to protect them.
It is aberrant to know that the mutilations of people with albinism have become a millionaire business among sorcerers and superstitious Africans who pay very high sums in dollars for every amputated part of an albino.
I believe that it is of vital importance to the Governments of African countries to implement severe penalties, with all the weight of the law to those directly and indirectly involved in esoteric practices, abduction, mutilation and killed people with albinism. Besides, they should promote and educate through communication media respect, acceptance and inclusion of the albino society to avoid so many abuses and killings. Perform awareness-raising campaigns in schools and integration for children with this mutation.
Enough of so much ignorance! We are all children of the Earth. We are God's creation. Blessings.
