August has been a fairly calm month, with weather that’s been alternately hot and marked by heavy rain—this month’s weather has indeed been unpredictable. Over the past few days, the evening sky has been very clear, with the sun shining brightly high in the sky. Even as it was about to set, its glow was still very bright. So I took a few photos as the sun began to disappear behind the clouds.
After it disappeared behind the clouds, I thought it was over and darkness would set in, but then a streak of light appeared behind the clouds—a colorful streak like a rainbow at the edge of the clouds. It was like magic; even before it got dark, the sky still offered something this beautiful. Is this a common phenomenon? I once captured a moment of an iridescent sky—is this the same thing? It’s been a long time since I sat here alone, watching the sunset like this.
