Hola querido hiver.

Hi dear hiver.
A day later than usual but today, at last, I manage to muster the strength to write. And to read. Don't expect deep thoughts from me today, I warn you from the beginning because this is going to be a brain dump that will allow me to resume my normal activity with light luggage, but it's not a page of my diary as usual. If you want to give up reading, do so with no regrets. I don't think you'll miss much.
Or you might. Who knows? If life has taught me anything, it's that no one has the absolute truth about things, only our own little subjective versions. I'm remembering that fable of the elephant described by four blind people, each playing very different parts. Their descriptions are completely different from each other and yet they are all right.
Oh, I get sidetracked for a change. I was telling you that today I managed to gather my strength because last Tuesday afternoon, almost six days ago, I started to feel unwell. I came down with a bad flu. Actually I could say that I was expecting it, because my husband had started with the same symptoms three days earlier. And you know what happens with contagious diseases, when they enter a house it is difficult for any member of the family to get rid of them.
So far, so normal for any winter. What is different is that this has been by far the occasion when it has hit me the hardest. At the peak of my fever I reached over 38ºC, although I have never had an easy time getting a fever. I'm one of those people who are already worn out at over 37ºC, so imagine if it's one degree higher. This morning when the thermometer read the usual 35.6ºC I felt a great relief.
I didn't need a device to tell me that I was better either. My body and mind were asking me to resume my activities. It is curious how we are programmed to be active. In fact, although I didn't leave the house for the last five days, I made an effort to walk up and down the corridor, moving my shoulders and neck, so as not to stiffen up.
This brings me back to the yoga sessions, which of course, I had to put on hold. Today I have made the extra effort to go for a walk in the street and I am not going to push myself any further, but tomorrow if everything continues as it has been, I will also restart those yoga exercises that were working so well for me.
Health is everything. Vegetating between the bed and the sofa for days on end is not life. And when you know that it is a passing illness, that your only obligation is to stay hydrated and let your body ask for what it needs at any given moment. I have felt grateful to be accompanied and cared for, to have someone to remember me and send me their good wishes for healing. Today I can say that they have had an effect.
See you next time. In the meantime, take care!
