When we organize a bike ride, we always take as a reference, a town, a bar, a warehouse, a village, a field, the house of a famous person, etc.. And this place where we went with my friend Alejandro, was on my to-do list, as I have always been told about it, but because it was far away I never managed to go. So, to fulfill this pending, we went.

[Spanish] Cuando organizamos una salida en bicicleta, siempre tomamos como referencia, una localidad, un bar, un almacén, un pueblo, un campo, la casa de algún famoso, etc. Y este lugar donde fuimos con mi amigo Alejandro, estaba en mi lista de pendientes, ya que siempre me han hablado de él, pero por quedar trasmano nunca logre ir. Por lo tanto, a cumplir este pendiente, fuimos.

Of course in the middle of the road we encountered a lot of vicissitudes with the terrain, but luckily the day was with us and we were able to cope with the situation. Splendid sunshine, a bit of wind, the cold was soothed by the sun and we were eager to see the aforementioned monolith to Juan Repeto.

! [Spanish] Por supuesto en el medio del camino nos encontramos con un montón de vicisitudes con el terreno a transitar, pero por suerte el día nos acompañó y pudimos sobrellevar la situación. Sol espléndido, algo de viento, el frío apaciguado por el sol y nosotros con muchas ganas de conocer el tan mencionado monolito a Juan Repeto.

Mud on the road speaks of little usual traffic, the fields in the Buenos Aires plains are a beautiful green color, after a rain, which sometimes are so necessary. The fence posts, well propped up so that the animals do not move on to other fields. Supported by sticks of good wood, that by their figure seem to be of good wood and that have been there for a long time. I am struck by the iron supports for the wires, they are still as strong as ever, despite the passage of time.

Palos de los alambrados, bien apuntalados para que los animales no se pasen a otros campos. Sostenidos por palos de buena madera, que por su figura parecen de buena madera y que están ahí desde hace mucho tiempo. Me llama la atención los soportes de hierros para los alambres, siguen igual de fuertes, pese al paso del tiempo.

The monolith to Juan Repeto is a sturdy stone anchored at the edge of a field, which we were told is normally covered by the dense plantations of the area. But on this occasion, although it was not so easy to reach, it was very visible from the street.

About Juan Repeto, there are several versions. On the internet we find different stories. That he was a caudillo of the zone that in combat in times of Rosas, died in combat in this place. And the version of this man, who upon seeing us in the place called us to our surprise and told us that he was a caretaker of the area, killed along with his horse, by lightning.

Something that caught my attention was the interest of the gentleman, so that we know his version. And if we go back in time to the times of Rosas, these situations were very feasible. Now, without detracting from the people, I do not believe that for a simple field caretaker, they would make a monolith of such magnitude. Details to keep in mind and as I say in the video, the truth is only one and we do not know it on this occasion.

! [Spanish] El monolito a Juan Repeto, es una robusta piedra anclada a orillas de un campo, que según nos contaron normalmente está tapado por las tupidas plantaciones de la zona. Pero en esta ocasión, que si bien no fue tan fácil llegar, se veía muy bien desde la calle.
Sobre Juan Repeto, existen varias versiones. En internet encontramos diferentes historias. Que fue un caudillo de la zona que en combate en épocas de Rosas, murió en combate en este lugar. Y la versión de este hombre, que al vernos en el lugar nos llamó para nuestra sorpresa y nos contó que era un cuidador de la zona, muerto junto a su caballo, por un rayo.
Algo que me llamo la atención fue el interés del señor, para que conozcamos su versión. Y si nos situamos en el tiempo en épocas de Rosas, estas situaciones eran muy factibles. Ahora, sin desmerecer a las personas, no creo que por un simple cuidador de campo, hagan un monolito de tan envergadura. Detalles para tener en cuenta y como digo en el video, la verdad es solo una y la desconocemos en esta ocasión.

Of course, on the way back, we continued to enjoy the natural beauties and something that always catches my attention is the house of the hornero. So creative in their constructions, especially in choosing where to build. Although the little houses are almost all the same, although I have observed some with two doors and therefore two compartments, it's great! Do you know it? What do they call it in your country?

! [Spanish]Por supuesto, de regreso, seguimos disfrutando de las bellezas naturales y algo que siempre me llama la atención es la casa del hornero. Tan creativos en sus construcciones, sobre todo para elegir los lugares donde construir. Si bien las casitas son casi todas iguales, aunque he observado algunas con dos puertas y por ende dos compartimientos. ¡Es genial! ¿Lo conoces? ¿Cómo lo llaman en tu país?

The postcards above are almost the epitaph of this outing. It is where you say, what a good decision to be here and now. A conjunction between the lagoon, the green of the grass and the sky that always says, here I am present. I am always grateful to be able to enjoy and know these, gifts of the universe.
