POKO THE PENGUIN

Chapter 2: A lesson about Saving Money

Poko and Alexander
After class, Poko went looking for his friend, Alexander the Duck.

Poko likes to hang out with Alexander because Alexander is Demented, which means that sometimes he gets confused and imagines things that aren't really there.

Poko thinks this is funny.

"Look at all this money I got from the silly Hippo." Poko said to Alexander, showing him a pile of shiny quarters.

"Vitamins!" Screamed the Demented Duck, and he ate three of the quarters before Poko could stop him.

"Silly duck." Said Poko, affectionately "Those aren't Vitamins, they are quarters!"

"Is my soul damned?" Wondered Alexander, shivering slightly.

"Probably." Said Poko, shrugging. "Look, Alexander. I had six quarters and two of these small ones, which are dimes. Then you ate three of the quarters. How much money do I have left?"

"I don't know. Ninety-five cents?" Guessed Alexander.

"Close!" Said Poko. "It's actually a dollar fifteen."

Poko wasn't very good at math, even though he thought he was.

"Oh." Said Alexander. "I forgot to carry the one."

"It's okay." Said Poko. "Would you like to eat the rest?"

"No, thank you." Said Alexander. "I'll just wait for these to come back out, and then I'll go buy a candy bar."
