Am I seriously writing a 'be nice' post?

- Yes.

Why am I writing this?

Because some people simply haven't gotten the message that being nice doesn't only help other people cope with whatever life throws at them, it also helps you help yourself.

I've seen someone going completely overboard on the most hateful language and doing the most horrible things right here on this platform. Just because someone gave them a sensible piece of advice that wasn't meant to come across in any negative way at all. They did pick it up as such and went on a complete flame war.

I've seen managers treating their staff poorly just because 'they are in charge'. They believe themselves to be above that person when really they are there in service to that person. A manager should make their staff feel appreciated, safe and motivated to do their very best. This isn't inspired by bullying, name calling or using the ancient 'divide and conquer' method. I have seen it all happen and I have had my fair share of someone not feeling secure enough to just be 'NICE' to the other person.
It doesn't mean you're a doormat or that you're the person that lets everyone get away with stuff. You'll notice if you treat people with respect and compassion that they will move mountains for you and give a kindness back that you hadn't even dreamed of receiving.

How hard is it to take that extra second to give someone a compliment? To actually notice them and the awesome work they do? Even if you're not a manager but just a customer or person passing by. How hard is it to stop looking at your phone, take a REAL look around you and notice all the beautiful things we create and do for one another?

So, in order to be nice maybe we should stop first and pay a little more attention to what is happening outside of us and notice the other human being standing in the elevator next to you. Tell them good morning or how awesome they look or maybe that you sympathise on having a busy day ahead.

Now me, I like to pour people an awesome cup of coffee to make them feel better and I have a chat. I talk about all sorts of things because I meet all sorts of people and each and every one of them is interesting to me. From the guy that sits in the car park, watching the cars, to the wealthy executive wearing a designer suit.

We all have things in common.
We're all human.
And because of this we all have the need to feel loved and appreciated.
