It's been a long time now, but I want to remember a little the period in which I lived in Rome; that was the first time I left home, I had just turned 18 and it was an important experience for me.
Obviously, as in most important things that happen to us in life, the main cause of that move was a woman; today, however, I don't want to focus on this but simply remember my having left home, a change of city, habits and all that follows.
I have just mentioned the choice of why Rome, it is true that at the time it offered many more possibilities than Reggio Calabria (the city where I was born and where I currently live), it is also true that, if I had to make a choice on my own, without the influence of other factors, I would certainly have chosen Florence to go and live abroad (a city in which I actually lived afterwards).
I started with the excuse of university, law at Tor Vergata, this because obviously I had to distinguish myself and, since everyone was going to Sapienza, I opted for the alternative choice; I write "sorry" because in those days the desire to study wasn't that much, furthermore I started university a little late because the first few months my father didn't want to know about this transfer so I didn't helped with the expenses (only to think again, parents are made that way they love their children unconditionally... I was a real dickhead in those days, only mom and dad could love me that way heh heh!) therefore, I had to find a job to support me and, of course, the money was barely enough so enrolling and paying tuition fees would have been a luxury.
A luxury, thinking about it, I wasted so much money in those years that today I would live in the most unbridled luxury if I had used it better...
I worked as a waiter in a Pub and the money was just enough to pay the rent and expenses; after a few months my father surrendered to the evidence (I would not retrace my steps, it was clear that I had left the nest by now) and he began to help me; my parents ardently wanted me to go to university, they wanted to see me as a lawyer (who knows why a lawyer after all)... unfortunately I had now tasted the pleasure of work, of earning one's own money and keeping it in my pocket therefore, like a good son of shit, I kept the money my parents sent me as help, but in the meantime I continued to work; I was enrolled in university but I studied very little concentrated on work and on finding something new every day to round up.
In that period, if I had applied myself, I think I could have become rich, I found some job every day to earn more, I did leafleting for anyone who needed it, I gave a hand to a friend with moving house, I was a porter at concerts when I they called and of course in the evenings I worked as a waiter; at the end of the month I no longer had money problems since between all the jobs I found and the help from my family I had money left over, so much so that I set aside for difficult times (those always arrive and even as an irresponsible boy I knew that having a reserve it was useful); I was very smart, had I had a little more time to devote to research and study, I would certainly have found a way to put my firm savings to profit.
Living away from home was something fantastic; I settled in Rome right away, I found a job, every now and then I happened to go to university (I did it more to socialize than for other reasons heh heh), I had to look after myself from all points of view; shopping, for example, was a lot of fun because in the "Capital" it was full of hypermarkets while, in Reggio, we were still stuck at the small supermarkets, nothing to do with!
In that period, despite being a villain, I learned to make a budget and manage my finances, to put away reserves for bad times, I learned to cook, at a certain point even to iron (I worked for a year in a real estate agency and I had to wear a jacket and tie... imagine if I spent money to have my shirts ironed eh eh); in short, I really grew up and I learned to get by on my own, with one advantage though, my parents were always ready to help me and, I think, that knowing I could fall on my feet psychologically helped me a lot (moreover, having a family that He loves you and shows it to you with every gesture he makes your life a lot better).
Well this is a bit of my first experience away from home, maybe in the future I'll write more details in the meantime, but you can get an idea.
Feel free to comment below, your thoughts are very important to me!
Hug you!

Ti Abbraccio!
