Happy Thursday to everyone on Steemit, So today I saw the rainbow, it was an awesome and amazing sight because you don't get to see the rainbow any time you wish, it comes out once in a blue moon... And it's believed that, the rainbow signifies that no rain will fall.
Rainbows are one of the many natural wonders of this world, they are amazing. However, what’s even more amazing is how they’re made or the process in which they come about
Interestingly, you need moisture for a Rainbow to happen, thats why they tend to happen right after or during rainstorms and the raining season.
So rainbows form when the suns rays shine through these moisture droplets in our atmosphere. These droplets act as prisms for the light to go through. Now, when light rays go through prisms, they are refracted at angles and are shot through the air.
Refraction is the act that happens when white light splits into its component colors. For those of you that don’t know, the component colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.
The light enters into the raindrop and is refracted, then it is reflected off of the drops other side, then it leaves the drop through the other side only to be refracted for another time.
So then the rainbow works with the law of Refraction.. Which you learnt in your physics class if you were a science student.
Hence, producing us the formation of a rainbow after this happens through many drops. Now a days, many people know how rainbows are formed.
However, back in the day before refraction was discovered, rainbows were a great mysteries Many people thought that rainbows were the paths mad by the messengers of gods as they traveled between earth and heaven.
OK, did you know it is impossible to reach the end of a rainbow? The orientation of the rainbow depends on how you are standing. Therefore when you try the move towards the rainbow, it will move with you, and you will never reach that pot of gold....
