Rainbows don’t come very often, and sometimes we are on the lookout for one. When it finally appears, it really excites us! Why? Because the beautiful colours catch our attention and can make us feel happy and excited. It is also amazing to think that a rainbow is a natural optical effect created by sunlight interacting with water droplets in the air.
But did you know you can make your own rainbow?
When the Sun is behind you, you can spray some water into the air in front of you. The tiny water droplets refract, reflect and disperse the sunlight, which separates light into its different colours. Depending on your position, you can even see a double rainbow, just like the above! This happens when the sunlight is reflected twice inside the water droplets before reaching our eyes.
I think it is amazing that something as simple as sunlight and water can create something so beautiful. I love doing this whenever I water the plants, creating my own little rainbow in the garden, and it cheers me up!
And today, I decided to add another colour.
While I was at my local supermarket, I spotted these beautiful, vibrant flowers called celosia. They came in such a gorgeous mix of colours that I couldn’t resist, and they were the last ones left on the shelf!
So, of course, I grabbed them immediately!
I decided to plant them straight away along the garden border. Blu seemed to like these colourful new flowers too.
He was thinking, “Come on, get planting!”
As usual, my little gardening companion Blu was right there with me. He stayed beside me the whole time, observing everything I was doing.
And naturally he even helped me dig!
So I decided to plant them along one section of the border, they looked pretty and hopefully will grow bushier.
But then I noticed Blu rubbing his chin all around the new plants.
which means... He was claiming them!
Apparently, this new corner of the garden now belongs to Blu. 😸
Once everything was planted, I gave the celosia a good, generous watering.
Then I turned around to see what Blu was up to...
And there he was, fast asleep! Haha!
Yes, gardening can be exhausting, especially when the weather is warm like this!
So I am pleased to have a new addition to the garden, and apparently, Blu has already claimed it.
Have a lovely day,
