After Marian, a sister who always thinks that life is linear and the others can't be harmful falls into a shady business that was introduced by a friend online told her and she falls victim by sending money to some unknown people and awaits some imported goods which will be landing in the year 2070 perhaps and don't forget we are just in the year 2025, this reality hits her heavily and she then learned her lesson to always contact and make deeper inquiries before such business transactions again.
It was a weekend, a Saturday in particular, I just heard my phone ring and after picking up the call, she said,” Hello brother, someone just called me this morning confirming my enrollment for the One Arms giving scheme online and they are ready to give me any needed amount and ready to burse it as soon as possible “ she concluded. I then asked her, “ Did you remember enrolling for such things? “ and she said she didn't remember, so I asked her not to do anything but just to come right away. After thirty minutes, she arrived and I collected her phone only to see that she had been added to this group where a man introduced himself as Mr. Emmanuel from the one free arm giving organization and a voice message followed which said: “ Hello, congratulations to you all as you have been selected randomly for this opportunity and you will be given any need sum of money you wanted”. I wondered the father Christmas that wanted to disburse money at this present time and that was the rat smell but I never concluded it suspicious and I just played along while Marian’s emotions quickly get a better of her and seeing that it was twenty people that was on the group,“ I will appreciate oo if I can pick any funds from here, I don't believe that there are good people such as this left in this real world” she said in an happy tune and after thirty minutes, another message drop but this time it was video which feature a woman celebrating after she had received her payment and thanking the organization for the payment and this again make me ask myself why is the video necessary if not for us to be convinced which further validate my suspetion but still, I have to follow through to confirm the necessity of the money that is involved then the expected unexpected happened and another video message was dropped again and this actually featured another lady who told us that she collected her payment after registration and it was five thousands naira payment first to register and this validate my suspetion as I said to my self that if someone want to give you money , why then should they collect your money first and I told Marian that it is shady in inclination.
Then she asked,” Why do you think it is shady stuff?“ Then I told her that we should just keep mute and see if they would persist or not. After one hour, another message came in, but this time, it was an audio message that also featured a strange voice that was new to the program, giving out the bank account to be paid so that he would disburse the payment as soon as possible as he is the manager.
I removed Marian’s number from the group and told her that this is where the persistent act comes in or not and after ten minutes to Marian's surprise, she was privately messaged, she was asked why enrolling when she was not interested then I replied by telling the person that if truly they want to share or disburse money willingly, they should just share it without asking people to pay five thousand naira for registration fee and I did a voice record to notice them that we were aware it was a fraudulent scheme to trick people in paying and stripping them off their hard earned money and after they heard that it was no more a female and Marian’s voice but a male, they enlisted swears and lay different curses down for both of me and Marian to share and then block Marian's number immediately which make both of us laugh for like twenty minutes before she thanked me and left for her house.
