Welcome to part 2 of my Rebellion Starter Monsters review. I have gone over the starter summoners and starter Fire monsters, so this time I will now go through the Water starter monsters. I will be looking at the cards on whether they have good value at Bronze levels to help newer players get started.

I will try to look at their use individually, what summoners they can be good with, and what common teams they fit in. I'll also give an overall review at the end. With the recent start of the Rebellion Airdrop Conflicts, a lot of the Rebellion cards have risen in prices. Although, I expect the prices of Common and Rare cards to go lower as more and more packs are opened. This is because they are not the best cards to use for the Conflicts. I hope my posts can help newer players identify which cards to buy/rent eventually.

Let's get to it.

Common

The first monster is Daigendark Surveyor. It has Magic Reflect, and gets +1 Speed and HP at level 3. Honestly, the first time I saw it, it reminded me of Earth's Failed Summoner. For 2 mana, this card has insane stats. It is one of the important cards in the popular Daarg Deadblast teams. There are a lot of strategies available with this card. Using Prunda or Zeddica also opens up Zyriel for double attack types which is very strong. Overall, this card is a must have.

The next monster is Chaos Rear Guard. It has a Shield ability, and it gets +2 Armor and +1 HP at level 3. Because of the HP and Armor, I think this is a very serviceable tank especially in no magic rulesets. It is good as a filler card, and doesn't require a specific summoner to work. It can work nicely with Kelya though, to increase its low Speed, and get an additional armor. For teams, it can work well with Possibilus since it can take a lot of damage while still being cheap. Overall, I think it has its niche where it can thrive. Little League and Reverse speed rulesets are some examples.

The next monster is Mar Toren Seeker. It has the Snipe and Dodge abilities, and it gets +1 Speed and HP at level 3. This card actually makes Aquatus slightly usable because of the high speed and dodge combo, but it would still be great with Kelya. It actually has a good amount of strategies it excels at, like as a Snipe/Opportunity/Sneak tank. This is a card that shows the power creep of Rebellion. It is like a combined Sniping Narwhal and Kulu Swimhunter, but with an additional Dodge ability. But even with that, I think overall, this card isn't a must add for me. I mainly use Possibilus teams, so it will be difficult for me to use this outside of a Ranged only ruleset.

The next monster is Sultry Barmaid. It has Ambush, and it gets the Stun, and +1 Speed at level 3. Just because of the Stun alone, I think this card is nice to have. Without the stun [lower levels], I don't think the card is good. It has decent stats, and the Ambush can deal a good amount of damage, but it doesn't work with my teams. I think it works well with Kelya and Prophet Rosa. I can see it doing well with the summoner Akane, and have an Ambush team, but on its own, it is just a higher mana Kulu Swimhunter with Ambush.

Rare

The first Rare monster is Anasth Soothsayer. It has Cleanse, and gets Tank Heal but loses 1HP at level 2. I honestly think this card is overpowered. Water already has a Cleanse [River Nymph] and Tank Heal [Merdaali Guardian] monster. This card is like a fusion of both, while costing less than their total, faster than both, has higher HP, while also taking up 1 less team slot. It stays at 1 damage and 4 speed at higher levels, but it even gets more abilities that are very useful. This might be the best support monster in Bronze right now. It is perfect with the current meta of Tanky Taunt monsters in front, with a lot of support at the back. Overall, this is a must have card at level 2. This is very useful in a lot of teams and rulesets.

The next monster is Pirate of Eight. It has the Reach and Blast abilities, and it gets +1 Speed and HP at level 2. The Blast is nice, but its stats are a bit lackluster. This might be another card where Aquatus is usable. With a level 2 Aquatus, a level 3 Pirate of Eight can be used, which gains +1 damage. It can then damage monsters with Shield, and have more uses. It can work well with the Chaos Rear Guard in Little League, or in low mana Equalizer battles. Overall, I can't see this card seeing much use in Bronze.

The next monster is Sea Dog of Eight. It has the Corrosive Ward ability, and gets +1 attack at level 2. Its ability is good against Kelya in a Melee only ruleset, and I can see it being useful with Prophet Rosa's Shield. It can work as a front line tank in Possibilus teams, and the 3 attack can hurt if it gets to Trample. But overall, I think this card is too niche, and only has a few instances where it will be good to use in.

The last card is Argarux Magus. It has Scattershot, and gets +1 HP on level 2. Honestly, this card is very underwhelming in Bronze. I don't like Scattershot, unless it is during a Blast ruleset, but even then, my monsters usually hit the first monster anyways haha. It still has magic attack though, and costs low mana, so it can be a nice filler monster. With low stats, it needs Kelya to gain the armor and have some extra survivability. Overall, this card is a nice to have in Bronze. But it does become better in Silver where it gets Bloodlust at level 4.
