Life is a journey
Like fishermen in their boats
They leave behind their goats
In search of fish
To come fill their dish
Their hearts filled with aspiration
Even in their perspiration
They set sail with full preparation
Not knowing what will befall their formulation
They sing and make merry on the calm sea
All of a sudden, they see
They see a thick dark cloud ahead
An angry cloud with ferocious flashing eyes
They are caught up in her dark rain
Their emotions start swimming in darkness
The falling dark rain give birth to a violent storm
A storm formed out of real pain
Emotional pain, financial strain, social drain
A loss with no gain
At this point, living life becomes in vain
Men become helpless like the poor “Nkoso” girl child
Sitting in life’s boat hopeless in the storm
Like Kumpa enjoying his last “gari” in his dorm
But, in my book of life lies this conclusion,
There’s help even in helpless
There’s hope even in hopeless
There’s a possibility even in impossibility
Therefore, face every storm of life with this knowledge
“ When you are down to nothing, God is up to something. God doesn’t lift the lifted but the fallen”
For He promised to be with us even in life’s boat
The storm shall surely come
The thunder shall roar
But at the Master’s command, the storm will be calm.
