Today I took a walk to a zoo that is near my house to create a small post about one of my favorite mammals, the big brown bear! They are great powerful machines that have been an inspiration for our society, the brown bear is the largest land animal in the wild of the Iberian fauna.👨🏫👨🎓
The awe-inspiring brown bear lives in the northern forests and mountains of North America, Europe, and Asia. It is the most widespread species of bear on the planet. These omnivorous giants are usually solitary, with the exception of females and their cubs, although they do occasionally congregate. These spectacular encounters can be witnessed at the best fishing spots in Alaska, when salmon go up the river for summer spawning.🌏🌎
At this time, dozens of bears can gather to gorge themselves on this fish, accumulating fat that will sustain them during the harsh winter that awaits them. In autumn, a brown bear can eat up to 40 kilograms of food a day, and before hibernating it can weigh twice as much as in spring.😍😍

Brown bears dig bear hibernation in winter, often on favorable hill slopes. The bears take shelter during pregnancy and give birth in this winter rest, usually a pair of cubs. Brown bear cubs feed on their mother's milk during the spring and stay with their mother for about two and a half years, so the females only reproduce every three years.😘😍🤔
Adult brown bears are powerful predators that occupy the top of the food chain, although much of their diet consists of nuts, berries, fruit, leaves, and roots. They also eat other animals, such as rodents and elk. The largest brown bears in the world are found off the coasts of British Columbia and Alaska, and also on some islands, such as Kodiak.👩🏫👨🏫

Despite their enormous size, brown bears are very fast, and have been known to reach 50 kilometers per hour. They can be dangerous to humans, especially if they are surprised or if a person gets between a bear and her cubs.😲👩🏫

The brown bear originally occupied almost all of Europe and Asia, almost the western half of North America and some areas of the Middle East and the Maghreb. And although this area has been progressively reduced in recent centuries, it is still very extensive, to the point that it is estimated that there are still between 200,000 and 250,000 specimens, a truly remarkable number for a carnivore of its size.😁😁
The enormous extension of their area of distribution and the great diversity of environmental factors to which they have adapted (habitat, food availability, climate) have caused brown bears to be among the mammals that present the greatest variability in their biometric data. . Iberian bears are classified among the smallest brown bears, with a weight that in males can exceed 200-250 kg💖💖💥
The brown bear's heat takes place between April and May, but after fertilization the egg does not implant in the wall of the uterus until autumn. The bear gives birth in January, while it sleeps, and the first months of life of the newborns are spent inside the burrow, where the bear covers them with her hair and suckles them. Brown bears are highly intelligent animals that have to spend a long time with their mothers to learn from them the techniques they need to survive. This mammal has no natural enemies, with the exception of man.😊😊
