DYNAMISM
Some persons are really good at what they do. On account of a history of being competent in their chosen field, many people run to them to be taught and mentored. It could be relationship counselling, religious teachings, career coaching etc.
Whatever it is, chances are that after a while of doing well teaching, most teachers become unteachable. The irony is he was taught how to be successful. After learning and applying his teachers' principles, he finds out more workable principles on his own. He combines both his new found principles and his teachers' and develops a workable model that attracts people to him to learn. After he becomes successful, he discards one very potent principle that took him up which is learning.
Many eventually get stalked with their old methods, teaching their students with notes or messages they wrote in 1982, doing business or working as though they are in the 18th century without any desire to make progress in getting more knowledge, using more recent methods and information, or getting knowledge on how to handle the problems peculiar to this era. Mind you, if you flogged people to make them disciplined in 1983, it won't work in 2018.
Upgrade! Again I say upgrade! The method of teaching, doing business and administration that worked for your mentor in the 80s have a very slim chance of working in the 20th century.
I'm Jay Sun and I believe you have to be dynamic to maintain relevance for long.
