Hello, dear members of the Education community on the Hive blockchain!
Today is a big day for educators and learners all over the world.
Why?
Because it is World Teachers’ Day.
A good teacher as a knowledge multiplier
In the beginning of the learning process, a good teacher will do his or her best to sow the seed of learning in his or her students.
He or she will attempt to draw their attention, and help them in their smooth transition into the classroom, as they carry so many distractions and stimuli from the external environment.
In the optimum scenario, he or she will make a successful connection between external stimuli and the actual learning goals in the classroom.
At the second stage, and after he or she makes sure that students are now focused on learning, he or she will start instilling knowledge in them.
By asking questions, he or she will expand the horizons of the disseminated knowledge, receive feedback from students, and encourage them to generate new knowledge, without them even realizing it sometimes.
In his or her continuous effort to be a knowledge multiplier for students, he or she will not be satisfied by just sticking to current knowledge.
As a result, his or her students will gradually take part in a process that will turn them into inquirers and researchers themselves, thus actively seeking knowledge and augmenting it rather than feeling content with sterile or static knowledge.
A good teacher as a knowledge beacon
Have you ever recalled a teacher telling you something that you remember for years to come?
These morsels of wisdom and knowledge will follow you throughout your life, showing you the way at times of ambiguity, turbulence, and uncertainty, just like a beacon directs ships through stormy seas.
For a teacher to be able to serve as a knowledge beacon, he or she must have digested the offered knowledge himself or herself first, before providing it to his or her students.
He or she must have done the hard work beforehand, so that students only receive specific and targeted knowledge.
Otherwise he or she won’t be able to show students the way out of the stormy waters of knowledge, possibly with the risk of guiding them to learning failure, ignorance, and indifference.
A good teacher as a role model
Later in life, students will remember a good teacher for the example that he or she has set for them.
So, when facing difficult dilemmas that call for sound decision-making, the actions, responses, behavior, and personality of a good teacher will help students to make the optimum choice, just like their teacher would in a similar situation.
