Vaastu Shastra is an Indian literature dating back to the time of Vedas. It is derived from "VASTOSHPATI". Vaastu basically is dealing with knowledge of architecture, iconography and art relating to structure and building.
The God of Vaastu or "VastuPurusha" is present in each and every plot whether small or big. He has a fixed and peculiar body.
His head and body is spread all over the length and breadth of the Plot. The story of Vaastu Purusha is mentioned in MATSYA PURANA. Atherva Veda is an excellent example and proof of Knowledge of vaastu by vedic people. They knew the relation between man, house and environment.
Everything in this world is made of five fundamental elements – Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sky. Principles of vaastu are basically dependent on the arrangement of these five essential elements of the world in their proper order and proportions.
