Today we are having our monthly book club meeting with our friends at our house. After breakfast @laputis and I practiced organ duets and then went to get some groceries. The last 2 hours have been spent preparing snacks for our company in the afternoon.
I'm not sure if I will have time to write a post today or not so I'm taking this opportunity to create something and share it with my followers.
I've been reading a few posts by @exyle and
@tarazkp in the moments when not helping
@laputis in the kitchen
@exyle's optimism is contagious. While I don't have many ambitions to get to 250k SP any time soon, yesterday I became a PALnet orca. Now my 100 % upvote is worth about 15 PAL.
This is good news not only for authors whom I'd like to support but also about people who leave thoughtful comments on my posts because I'm trying to reward those comments with my 2 % upvote. On PALnet it translates into the upvote worth 0.22 PAL. If no one but me upvotes such comment, the author will get 0.11 PAL.
In today's prices it's $0.035 USD. But of course they would also get approximately $0.021 USD worth of SBD/SP. So together on Steem and PALnet they would get about $0.056 USD. I would love to give them a larger upvote but my voting power is depleting quite fast these days.
@tarazkp wrote about the concept of "You get what you pay for" when they ask him to photograph at weddings for free. He of course does crazy amount of editing and work on these photos so the result usually is pleasant to the newly-wed couples.
I think this concept also applies on Steem pretty accurately. Right now the biggest returns are from bought SP, as @exyle writes. When prices go up, the biggest returns will be from earnings, not from bought SP.
So when we want to complain that we aren't getting enough returns on Steem, it's good to ask ourselves, what have we payed for them?
With about an hour left before our friends arrive, I think I better go into the kitchen and check on @laputis. I'll let her post pictures of the table later tonight.
By the way, yesterday we found out that @laputis brother's little dog whom I drew 4 times recently has been quite ill but the vet doesn't know what's wrong with her. She seems to be in pain but otherwise fine from outside. No longer runs around. Maybe she ate something rotten from the ground? We will check up on her later to see if there are any improvements.
