I never ceases to amaze me how bitcoin will make some waves in the traditional financial news,, reporters begin to cover it. Then the crypto community jumps and says see, they know about us. Yes, they know. But when there's no news from crypto effecting traditional financial institutions don't be surprised when they don't cover it. Not being in the news is usually a good thing because as they say in the news business, "If it bleeds it leads". Being covered in the press usually means there's problems.
Recently however bitcoin has been good... ish. Yes bitcoin beat the price of gold. Yes we're now counting by the 10,000's. Yes several countries have "ok'd" bitcoin to be used. Because I guess some companies need permission?
India stood up & screamed for it. Japan said, Yes thank you. China passed legislation like a constipated Republican politician. Several other countries have delivered their stamp of approval. Yet in America? We just talk about it on the news as if it's some random fish that keeps getting thrown against the wall. Maybe it serves to remind the powers that be, alternatives exist. Perhaps if there was more press it might make people realize that the printing press doesn't get any country out of debt. Ask anyone in Venezuela.
All this being said perhaps, one day... When bitcoin gets its head out of its ass. There will be a PR person? Until then there's you & me. Owe a friend so cash from lunch? Pay them back in crypto, ANY crypto. Everyone has a phone. Get them a simple wallet & put some money in it. When they see the value go up, they'll come back asking how they can get more or cash out. Lets be honest, have you ever had someone regret getting int crypto? Too, do you really need an excuse to buy more? Once your friend looks around the space, they might find out we're not all hitmen or drug dealers. They'll experience the viability of crypto.
What software package is "new" 10 years after its release? What company opens its doors for business only 10 years later says they're still "new"? Were 3D printers made yesterday? Continuing to use the word "new" in conjunction with crypto currency serves as a wall to keep people out. Stop it. Beta projects don't last for 10 years, ask Microsoft.
