I didn't consider myself strong till 2020, that year took a toll on many people, not just in Nigeria but the world at large.
Sometime in June 2020, after the first wave of the pandemic, my mum fell seriously Ill, she's been ill long before then but it became unbearable to the point where she had to undergo surgery. The world was shaking but I shook twice, seeing my mum in pains before and after the surgery broke my heart ๐ to the point where I thought there was no way I would ever be strong but during the period she was admitted, I had no other choice than to be strong.
The whole procedure went very well and I was tasked with the job of taking care of her, for the first few weeks, I had to lift her whenever she needed to use the restroom, bath her, feed her, cook, clean her wounds, take care of the house and take care of myself.
My mum
I thought I would breakdown but surprisingly I didn't. After that experience, I realized I can't breakdown when I'm the one people depend on and I don't think I'd have done anything differently cause when I had my (minor) surgery last year, she didn't leave my side and she definitely didn't breakdown.
Brace up! Do your very best, trying times CANNOT last forever, it's only a part of life.
This is my entry to the #kiss. prompt
