I think certain people derive joy from making others feel little, it’s like their specialty. Sometimes I wonder if it makes them feel accomplished, does it brighten their life? Because what else would make people body shame?

When i was younger, i was very slim to the point where my friends started calling me “slim Debby” that was how i was differentiated from other “Debbies” in school, church or at work.
I was always made fun of, I was the center of the "slim jokes", whenever I passed by a fan they'll shout and say "please turn off the fan so Debby won't fly away" and when those aunties come visit they'll ask if I don't eat and encourage me to eat more. All these made me lose my self confidence, I always felt judged, even when no one is judging me verbally I felt their eyes did.
Fast forward to this year, I changed environment, recovered fully from my surgery, ate healthier, quit my stressful job and focused on my general wellbeing. I was suprised to notice I started gaining weight, my confidence was gradually returning, at least no one would make fun of me now or so I thought but how wrong I was 🤦, now, I get comments like "you're getting fat, it doesn't suit you, you're occupying too much space" and those aunties now ask "this one you're gaining weight, are you sure you're not pregnant?"
What exactly do they want me to do?
Drop dead?
Where in God's holy name is the excess fat?
At first, I didn't want the comments to get to me but now I can't help it 🤦
I'm so tired of people judging other body shapes 🤦
