A major challenge of sediment diversions is minimizing the short-term impacts to fish populations while maximizing the long-term benefits of land building. Interesting article about what impact fresh water diversion might have on the fisheries of South Louisiana. There's definitely an impact , there's no denying that, but nature never meant for that area to be so salty, the natural process is for the fresh water of the river to move all around. Maybe they need to think outside the box, and use fresh water diversions in an area for a few years, let the land build up then let the area go back to more salty water. The idea would be to move the fresh water around instead of everywhere all the time. Just an idea, but something to think about......
