Basically scheduled for April 2019, the ninth film, currently unnamed, has recently been postponed for a full year and will now be let go worldwide on April 20, 2020, which frankly looks like an eternity at this time.
"I know there has been a lot of speculation as to why the release date for Fast 9 was launched," Vin Diesel wrote on Instagram. "But it would be unfair to say that it's someone's fault.
"Like any vehicle that has worked eight times all over the world, the franchise needs maintenance, and my good friend and godfather of Universal, Ron Meyer, gave me the time to do it."
A tenth and final film is scheduled - originally scheduled for release in 2021, when the ninth film was to be released in 2019, Fast X (as it will surely be called) has not yet been rescheduled.
