Enzo has lost count of how many loads he has hauled in his lifetime with his truck. There have been thousands, and of every variety—from food to chemical products. A little bit of everything, just for variety. In his small business, he has always stood out for his speed and for completing every job right on schedule. Consequently, his reputation for excellent performance has spread throughout Buskeria, and he is the go-to guy whenever someone needs to transport something from one place to another quickly and safely. One day, a somewhat eccentric character showed up at his office. He simply told Enzo that he had a job for him. As was his custom, Enzo agreed, but insisted on knowing what the job entailed—and, naturally, the most important detail: how much was being offered.

It was a special shipment, the man explained: the entire collection of gear and equipment belonging to a band. It comprised everything they would need for an upcoming live performance. However, their own vehicle had broken down, so they required an experienced driver to transport the load for them. Since the equipment was both fragile and valuable, they were offering a handsome sum of money for the job. Yet the journey would be a long one; he would have to travel from the very first island of Buskeria all the way to the last. That meant several days on the road in his truck. Enzo had undertaken long-distance hauls before, but never one quite this extensive. Consequently, he initially hesitated to accept. But the monetary offer was simply too tempting to pass up, so in the end, he said yes.

After confirming that they had indeed agreed upon a delivery date—one set for no less than three days hence, at a specific timeEnzo realized he could practically not afford to stop and rest while on the road. The band was willing to pay such a premium because, without that equipment, they wouldn't be able to perform at all; consequently, the pressure was on for both parties. That very same day, just a few hours later, Enzo drove his truck to the band's lodgings to pick up the cargo. It took them a few hours to load everything up, and that very afternoon, he set off on the great three-day journey toward Buskeria. Everything began routinely, just as always—mile after mile, the road stretching out endlessly. It was the kind of work he had always done—nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing special about this run was the cargo itself; otherwise, there was nothing remarkable to note.

The first day went perfectly—no mishaps, no delays. In fact, he even managed to make up some time, allowing him to get about five hours of sleep that night. On the second day, he had to make a brief stop to buy some food to fuel the rest of his journey, but the delay was minimal—only about twenty minutes. Thus, the second day passed without a hitch as well. Enzo could already picture himself cashing his check; the money was practically in the bag, with only one day remaining until the delivery was complete. Every so often, the band that had hired him would call to check on his progress. It reassured them to know that everything was going smoothly and that there were no delays. Consequently, everyone felt confident; everything was proceeding exactly as planned.

On the third day, everything remained the same; it was morning, and he was traveling through a somewhat sparsely populated, almost desert-like region. He was grateful to have air conditioning in the truck, for outside, it felt like an oven. Due to the heat, certain sections of the road appeared distorted from a distance, so he had to remain constantly vigilant. But suddenly—just as he was speeding up to overtake—a pothole in the road appeared out of nowhere. The truck hit it hard. As a result, the tire went flat, and he could go no further. He had to pull over, only to realize that, in the rush of his departure, he had left his spare tire back at home. Consequently, he had to park on the roadside, hoist the tire onto his shoulder, and walk under the scorching sun until he reached the nearest town to get it repaired. There was no cell service, so he couldn't call anyone.

The round trip took him the entire day. It wasn't until late afternoon that he was finally able to change the tire and resume his journey. The delay was massive, and he still had many kilometers ahead of him. It was a disaster. Once he was back on the road—driving at full speed—and reached an area with cell reception, the group that had hired him immediately began calling in a panic; he was hours overdue. If he didn't arrive soon, they wouldn't be able to set up their equipment in time for the next day's presentation—which might even have to be canceled. And if that happened, he wouldn't receive the agreed-upon payment.

He tried to explain it to them, but they didn't understand; they simply told him to get there as soon as possible. Arriving on time was a major test for him. But he focused. He didn't sleep that night; instead, he drove straight through. He went full throttle—at the maximum speed allowed on the highway. Fortunately, since it was nighttime, there wasn't much traffic, so he was able to make excellent time. Almost miraculously, he arrived right on schedule that very night. And the group was able to get everything set up before dawn. It had been a difficult challenge, but he had overcome it. Best of all, the group was highly satisfied and even paid him more than originally agreed upon. It all became a story to tell his grandchildren—and what a story it was! Now, it was time to get ready, for there were more loads to come. Incidentally, he also got to enjoy the group's live performance.
