Most of the time we know we are emotionally/psychologically upset and even realize it's to such an extent we need help but we fail to do so. This upset could be in the form of painful life experiences, feelings of rejection or betrayal, loss of loved ones, overwhelming family and social responsibilities, abusive life partner, relationships problems, fear of failure in our academics or other important life goals/adventures/businesses, other unexpected traumatic life experiences.
We manifest this in the form of anxiety, fear, dissociation from others, inability to concentrate, being emotionally labile, overtly sensitive/irritable to lots of things around us, inability to eat or in the worst cases having thought or attempt of suicide. We don't have to bottle up our emotional problems as it can only lead to worsening of the condition, or even physical manifestations and functional imbalance.
There are lots of medications (drugs) out there ranging from anxiolytics (anti anxiety) to anti depressants and sedatives (improves sleep) which can be given to people with emotional upset but they can never be fully effective if you don't take care of certain things, and you can improve without these drugs just by doing these:
Rampant anxiety ruins our equilibrium, colors our mood, and makes all the already hard tasks of living that much harder..... You can decide that the meaning you make is more important to you than the mood you find yourself in. source
I went to my village for a function and saw this young lady I used to know looking unkempt. I greeted her but she passed me without a response. Then I got curious and decided to ask about her. "she is not with her sense again oo. I don't know if she wants to go mad" was the response I got.
She married but for whatever reason was brought back to the village by the husband, to be staying with her mother-in-law whom she quarrels all the time with. She was born by a single mother who is late. She gave birth and lost her baby and some weeks after started misbehaving. Her mother- in-law sent her packing and she now stays alone in her mother's house.
