Sin is the major cause of death in today's world. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin brought separation from God and made all people subject to physical death. The Bible teaches that death is not part of God's original perfect plan but is a consequence of humanity's fallen condition. Every person dies because all have inherited a mortal nature.
At the same time the bible gave us hope of eternal life after death. Through Jesus Christ, God offers forgiveness of sins and the promise of resurrection and eternal life to those who believe in Him. While physical death is a reality for everyone, Scripture teaches that it is not the end for those who trust in God, because He has promised a future where death will be defeated forever.
