I live in Hachiman, Sendai, and have been lost as usual since the Hachiman Doutor in my neighborhood closed in February of this year. Recently, I bought some bread from a nearby bakery and ordered an iced coffee to eat in, but there seems to be no other customers who use it that way besides me, which makes me feel uncomfortable. I also feel inconvenienced by the fact that they are closed on Sundays and have Obon holidays. I guess it is not a replacement for Doutor.
Then, I still have to go to Veloce on Jozenji-dori, even if I have to take a bus. Veloce opens early at 7:00 a.m., and there are no Sundays or Bon holidays.
It is not just a cafe. Historically, it has been a hangout for artists and literary giants, so there is a reason it is necessary. I like to drink my latte in the atmosphere of a café.

仙台の八幡に住んでいますが、今年の2月に近所の八幡ドトールが閉店してから相変わらず迷走が続いています。最近は近所のパン屋さんでパンを買ってアイスコーヒーを注文してイートインでいただいたりしましたが、私以外にそういう使い方をするお客さんはいないようで、居心地が悪いです。あと日曜日が休みだったり、お盆休みがあったりして、不便を感じています。ドトールの代わりにはならないんだなあと。
となると、やはりバスに乗ってでも定禅寺通りのベローチェに行くしかないです。ベローチェは開店時間が7時と早いし、日曜日もお盆休みもありませんからね。
たかがカフェではありません。歴史的にも芸術家や文豪のたまり場となっているので、必要となる理由があるのです。カフェの雰囲気の中で飲むカフェラテがいいんです。
