It seems that we're very much alike, my friend. ☺️ I'm also really good at delayed gratification – which I believe to be the winning strategy in life in the long-term – but I'm also not-so-good at pampering myself and "allowing" myself to have nice things and experiences without delaying them or finding a "reasonable justification" for them (a birthday, an industry event, an invitation from somebody else). I think that in our age (mid-forties, that is) it's good to find a balance between these two priorities:
to stay future-oriented and keep investing in the "future self", delaying some momentary gratifications and building a security net for later years, while also
learning to say yes to opportunities to enjoy the moment or treating ourselves as we would treat a loved one: with a spontaneous holiday abroad, an exclusive spa treatment, a cool new game or a rare edition of a favourite book. Something that we would normally allow ourselves to get, but would happily accept as a present from others.
I don't know, does this thought make any sense to you? 😄
