It had been a few years, but we finally got a chance to get back to the Oregon Coast. Pacific City is where we chose to spend a few days and our choice turned out to be a good one. I had passed by this area a few times over the years but never really took the time to explore. So join us as I share a few of the images and thoughts from our time in Pacific City.

We arrived later in the afternoon to a fairly gray day. Not an uncommon occurrence on the Oregon Coast. But with a much better forecast for the next day in store, we did some quick touristy stuff before finding and checking into our beach house.

cktp-3.JPGAnd the large sand dune behind it. Underneath the cape are some tide pools. Tomorrow I will be exploring more of those areas.

The next morning we left the beach house and took a short walk to a boardwalk that led to the top of a dune overlooking the ocean.

A lot of effort went into this boardwalk to provide the residents of this little community with an amazing view from the top of this dune covered in beach grass.

cktp-6.JPGIt was a journey well worth taking though as Chief Kiwanda Rock comes into view at the top.

A short video of the view from the top of the dune.

Back on the beach, and with a low tide it's time to explore the tide pool area.

cktp-12.JPGThe tide pools are tucked away under the cliffs of the cape.

cktp-15.JPGThe abundance of nooks and crannies in the rocks provide a great environment for the sea creatures.

Not sure what I expected but the size and girth of these Starfish kind of surprised me.

cktp-21.JPGSome sea anemones.

cktp-23.JPG

cktp-27.JPGTwo small crabs with their backs against the rock keep an eye on me as I pass by. 馃檪

cktp-22.JPGAs I hit the end of the road for my tide pool exploration I spy a surfer reflecting on his chances of catching the big one out beyond the rocks.

And lastly a small arch along the cliff side as I make my way back to the beach.

Well that's it for this installment of my trip to Pacific City and Cape Kiwanda. Make sure to check back for part 2 when I explore the view point at the end of the cape and beautiful sunshine finally arrives at the beach. 馃榾
