Today (Jan 1, 2019) mark the death of the Metropass, a magnetic strip creditcard like monthly transit pass. Now everyone is going to have to use Presto instead, like it or not.
Some TTC staff say it is going to be a big mess as station the entry scanner are about 50% presto or less with the other accept token and/or metropass.
Today also mark the new higher fine for distracted driving. Personally I think sending people to community service would be a better "lesson" but "under funded" big gov have different idea.
First-time fines now range from between $615 to $1,000, up from the previous minimum of $490.
Second and third would go up to $2000 and $3000 with license suspension.
