Howdy Friends!

Let me start off in usual fashion with a bit of a gripe. Dayum, it was proper cold last night. Into the 20's?!? What da actual faq? Here I thought when I left Michigan, I was going towards better, meaning warmer, weather! Oh Gawd, being a cheapass, it surely pains me hearing the heat pump run all night. They really should have called it a money pump, coz essentially it pumps my money over to the power company!

Now lets get down to the brass tacks of this here dilemma, shall we? Like I say, I am thrifty. My son prefers to say that I am cheap. Ok fair enough. I hate to spend money, well unless it is on something fun. Take for expamle my old multi meter. I think I pain less than ten bucks for the twenty or so years ago.

Its been around. Been painted on a time or two apparently lol.

Now I dont mind that she is not a looker, as long as she gets the job done. However you see here checking a wire for continuity, it shows 2 ohms, where clearly it should be next to nothing. The problem is the sensor I am checking should go from 0 ohms to 10 ohms when heated, but the meter is off 20% or so from the get go...and yes I popped in a fresh battery.

Well lo and behold, Lowe's happens to have a Klein multi meter set for $35. Klein makes some decent stuff but it all goes for the top dollar to my mind.

Here you see the Klein reading 0.02 which is what it should be.

Now everyone that likes to poke around with electricity should have a contactless voltage tester.

When not around voltage the tip is green...

When near AC voltage, the tip flashes red and it beeps at you. It runs 20 bucks at Home Depot.

You also get a plug tester that runs ten bucks on its own, so I thought the set was a decent price. However that leaves me with a dilemma... Do I keep the old tester that basically shows continuity as a spare, or pitch it?!?
