It all started in November, 2015. I had been reading and watching YouTube videos about this cool new type of camera: Mirrorless! In previous DSLR cameras, there is a mirror that reflects the image onto the sensor. This means DSLR cameras by nature are larger and heavier than their mirrorless counterparts. I thought that was a cool deal that might just work as a vlogging camera. I had always wanted to get into photography and I was already putting videos on YouTube, so I took the plunge....
I need to clean her up. Between filming plenty of messy cooking videos and being used in the field, she just aint as purdy as she once was.
I decided on the Panasonic Lumix G7 as it was one of the first mirrorless offerings. It was not a high end model, but it was quite advanced shooting 4k in 2015. I really fell in love with this little camera, as well as with photography as well.
This was our first video train wreck we filmed with the G7. Of course Ben was about as unhelpful as he is today lol.

The plan we are thinking about is to sell all of our old cameras and kit and put that towards a Sony a7 iv with just a kit lens to start.
I suppose I am going to sell my 30mm Panasonic Macro lens.
I enjoyed using it for some close in shots like these potato eyes.
No need to keep my 25mm 1.4 lens.
I really will miss how that 1.4 could really give a shallow depth of field and blow out the background!
Most camera places will purchase you old kit. Yes you can do much better selling on Facebook Marketplace, but then you have to deal with the tire kickers that only want a steal or the people fooling around with your stuff for ages only to decide they will keep looking.
Of course, one expects to take a bit of a hit on the price. This is the one that will really hurt. I loved the Canon 100-400mm.
It really reaches out and brings distant items near!
The Sony A7 iv would be able to shoot 60 fps in 4k. I really would like to get into shooting some stock videos. Well I know it sounds crazy to trade in so much kit just for a new camera with a kit lens. The problem with the Canon 80d is that it doesn't shoot 4k at all! I really need to keep the 100-400, but I don't see how. Such dilemmas!
